The Jilin Province Museum is established in Sep. 2003. The official license is awarded in 14th Feb. 2004, subordinated the Jilin Province Culture Hall.The foundation of Jilin province museum is based on the former Jilin Province Museum and the Jilin Province Near Contemporary History Museum,it is a comprehensive museum which is mainly in history and art and demonstrates Chinese national glorious culture history in system.
On May 1951, the Jilin province government authorized to prepare for construction of the Jilin Province Museum,and finished in Dec.. In Jan. 27th 1952, the Jilin Province Museum officially opens in Jilin city Jiangwan road No.12. In Sep 1945,the Jilin Province Museum moves to the Changchun Puppet Manchurian Palace along with the provincial government.In Sep. 2003, the former Jilin Province Museum and the Jilin Province Near Contemporary History Museum merge into the Jilin Province museum. The address is located in the Changchun People Street No.3,188.
There are nearly one hundred thousand holdings in the museum,from the ancient times to the near modern times. The essence gathers together, the connotation is rich, especially the Chinese previous dynastical calligraphy and paintings and ancient Northeast border regional nationality, Gao Juli, Bohai, Manchu nationality's historical objects have their own characteristics. The collections of China ancient times and near modern times calligraphy and paintings and the cultural relic of the Northeast Anti-Japanese Amalgamated Army have a important position in the boundary of national museum.We have held thousands of fundamental displays and special subject exhibitions. At present we mainly have three exhibitions:The Manchu’s dressing and the Elegant rhyme—The Jilin Province Museum store up of the Qing Dynasty Manchu’s dressing exhibition, Walk into life of Khitan daughter immortal—Recent years Jilin Province unearthed distant golden cultural relic exhibition, All sort of flowers salute spring—The museum hides the flower- and-bird paintings exhibition.
The Jilin province Museum’s new building has begun to constructed in 8th May 2007,and it is establishing now.The new address of the museum is in the Jilin Province Changchun science and technology cultural center comprehensive hall which is located in the Changchun City Jingyue economical developing-area.The new museum plans to be carried out before Oct. 2009. The building area of new constructed Jilin Province Museum is going to be thirty-two thousand square metres, the hardware facilities will reach the advanced level of domestic museum,The exhibition scale will be also expand further,The Jilin Province Museum will be developed into the museum which has reached the advanced level within the nation.
As the centre of Jilin ‘s cultural relic collection ,protection,exhibition,display and scientific research,the Jilin Province Museum will exert its function much better, and continuously enrich and deeppen the people’s recognition and comprehension on the historical culture.
